For power, if you don't plan on tuning then don't waste your time with a downpipe. You're not going to notice much aside from throttle response and a deeper note/louder burbles. Again, as with the intercooler upgrade, all performance BMW parts (especially engine retrofits) require additional tuning to unlock the full potential of new, more efficient parts.The boost level settings of a Stage2 tune are too high for the back pressure generated by the resistance of the stock downpipe. The Stage2 tune tells the turbo to spin faster to a point where that stock back pressure can damage the turbo. A catless downpipe has emissions issues depending on your state's requirements. It also has a gasoline smell.There was video posted of an M340xi with a bench flash by a local tuner that tunes all cars (don't know dyno numbers - but I assume that Mission Performance / MHD / PTF are at or above the same level) and results were: on snow tires but dry pavement. had a downpipe (don't know catted or not) 0-60 in 3.45. 1/4 in 11.54.The only true significant exhaust power-added is catless downpipes, and this exhaust is just a catback system.
